Week 12 - Margaret's House

This household is a little different. I'm not calling it an Orphanage, because its so much more than that. The plans for this building have been passed along in the Mayor's files and the town finally has need of it. The building is called Margaret's House in honor of Maggie, the original caregiver for Sterling Falls' founders. The city has supplied §40,000 and donated the lot, the rest of the funds were provided by Abigail.

This is Abigail Bedford, she was hired on by the town to take care of the children living at Margaret's House. Abigail applied for the job to get away from her old life. She was severely burned on her face and suffers nerve damage from a car accident she was in. Her fiance left her after the accident and she hasn't been able to look at another man since. She fears that all they see is her injuries. Being a family sim, Abigail decided to devote her life to taking care of children.

Talin Dashwood has been passed around from foster home to group home and back several times. Child Protective Services finally decided that maybe what was best for Talin was to get away from the city. Hopefully a quiet life in Sterling Falls is all he needs to set him on the right path.

Dirk Mayfair was dropped off on the doorstep of the city orphanage. It is assumed that his apparent elf heritage is the reason his mother abandoned him. Due to over-crowding in the city orphanage, Dirk was sent to Margaret's House. He is a shy quiet child, but hopefully living in a happy environment will open him up to the other children.

Archie Van Der Werff has a bit of a mean streak (don't let his sweet appearance fool you) and he was having issues with the other children at the city orphanage. He was brought to Sterling Falls in the hopes that a smaller group home would be a more suitable environment to tame his anger.

Not much is known about Eleanor Fitzgerald, she was found in a back alley in a cardboard box behind a club. She is shy and serious and keeps to herself. There is something curious about her amber eyes, though.

Its no surprise that Dirk heads straight for the playroom by himself.

Eleanor quickly finds the playground equipment out back. There is something about the close proximity to the forest here that calms her.

Archie is instantly attracted to Talin, perhaps all he needs is an older brother type figure.

Luckily Talin is full of older brotherly behaviour. Hopefully these two will balance each other's issues out.

Margaret Hall has room for 4 older girls and 4 older boys as well as 2 toddlers or babies.

Abigail has her own little living quarters on the right side of the lot. This consists of a bedroom and a private bathroom.

Its quite around the house with all the kids in school.

Talin is the first to make a townie friend. The quiet life here does seem to be doing some good for him.

It isn't long before Margaret's House gets some new residents. This of course is Thomas Okitikoo.

And his sister Cheyenne.

They're a handful, but Abigail likes having something to do during school hours.

The next day Abner Parks moves in. He doesn't seem too affected by his situation.

Margaret's House is the first lot in Sterling Falls to have a gardener. Abigail is far too busy to do the gardening on her own.

One condition for living here is that all the children must do their homework.

There is still plenty of time to play before bed time.

All the children seem to be thriving in this environment. Even Thomas who grew up recently.

Talin's townie friend stops in on occasion.

Dirk is the next resident to grow up. He likes playing at being a big brother to the younger children.

Cheyenne is the final kid to have a birthday this round.

It's nice to see all the residents of Margaret's House doing well :)

Margaret's House is such a busy lot to play. Luckily it almost plays itself with all the kids getting along wonderfully.

Margaret's House is such a nice idea. And it made for a great way to get the kids who had been taken from the social worker back into the game. Are sims going to be able to adopt children from Margaret's House?

I knew I would end up with some form of an orphanage in this hood just because of my play style... I tend to have a lot of incidents. I fully intend to have the children living here be adoptable to other families in Sterling Falls. I have a fairly high population of gay sims so this will be a great way for them to have a family and still allow me to be selective of who they get to adopt.

It's wonderful to see all those orphans (and the ones taken away by the social worker) get a new home. I really like this household and I'm looking forward to see more of them! And I love Cheyenne's nose :)

A tiny wcif, if you don't mind? The bunkbeds?

I was pretty exited to start this lot, I was just waiting for some sims to get taken away. The other kids are just townie kids I made playable cause I couldn't be bothered to create some. Cheyenne has a great noes, doesn't she.

The bunk bed are here.
